Today’s Reading: Psalm 31
You don’t have to go far to reflect or meditate on how God transforms our lives. Reading through Psalm 31, you will find so many vivid ways He displays His goodness in our daily walks.
Check the box if you have ever relied on Him as:
-
A source of refuge
-
A listening ear
-
A strong fortress
-
A trusted leader
-
A faithful guide
-
A rescuer from affliction
I can say a heartfelt yes to every single one of these—and I am deeply grateful. I will call on Him for these for the rest of my life.
What makes Psalm 31 so powerful is David’s raw honesty. He doesn’t hide his grief or distress, yet right in the middle of trouble, he anchors himself in God’s character.
Verses 15, 19, and 21 remind us who He is and why He is our God of Goodness:
Verse 15: “My times are in your hands; deliver me from the hands of my enemies, from those who pursue me.”
Verse 19: “How abundant are the good things that you have stored up for those who fear you, which you bestow in the sight of all…”
Verse 21: “Praise be to the Lord, for he showed me the wonders of his love when I was in a city under siege.”
Knowing that our times—every season, struggle, and joy—are held in His hands brings complete peace. God doesn’t just respond to our needs; He has abundant goodness stored up for us ahead of time.
Whatever siege or pressure you might be facing today, take heart. As verse 24 encourages us: “Be strong and take heart, all you who hope in the Lord.”
